Caravan Next – Feed the Future – Art Moving People
Three years has passed since the 13 partners in the Caravan Next project kept their very first steering committee meeting in Holstebro, at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium – Odin Teatret, Denmark in October 2015. Here, the partner shared their methods of working, their plans and ambitions for the project and the first collaborative events started to form. On December 1st 2019 the last steering committee meeting takes place and the partners again gather to reflect upon the project.
In total, the Caravan Next events have taken place in more than 30 different locations in 17 different countries inside and outside Europe. Each partner has been responsible for their own events as well as participating in other partner’s events. More than 10 international conferences have been kept inside and outside Europe to disseminate the experience of social community theatre as applied within the framework of Caravan Next.
Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium – Odin Teatret is the lead partner of Caravan Next – Feed the Future – Art Moving Cities. The project is funded by Creative Europe.
The main aims of the project are:
Develop a unique European organisation of Social Community Theatre.
Give voice to European citizens and gain awareness about the European challenges of the third Millennium.
Capacity building and cultural empowerment for local communities.
Create a new understanding of the frame of theatre as being a living and social art, which can break down walls of social and cultural separation and create new social relations.
Explore the field of digital technology as a mean to connect people and try new ways for social interaction in connection to cultural events.
