Altamira Studio Theater
NTL co-production and guest performance
Altamira Studio Theater, the international theater group that in recent years has had a base in Holstebro, will present its most recent performance, Playroom - Acts without words on Sunday, March 25th, 2017 at the Odin Theater.
As the title says, Playroom - Acts without words is a visual and musical performance without text. It is based on the actor's vocal actions and body movements and is inspired by both pantomime and clown technique. Performers work with poetic and theatrical language, therefore the performance is appropriate for children and adolescents.
Two actors prepare the final details in their dressing room. Suddenly a red and a blue baby doll are thrown into a black square - a closed room from which they can't escape. They have forgotten where they come from, and they doon't know where to go. In their loneliness and isolation, they feel lost in the unknown and potentially dangerous place.
The dolls are forced to meet in the small, closed room. They feel both desire and rejection, curiosity and aggressiveness between each other. They are attracted and repelled. The world, and its endless conflicts storms in the small square.
They seem to have forgotten their past and their future: Is there still some of their innocence left? Are they able to play together? Two black shadows dance behind them, protectively and discretely. While they play forgotten games and sing in a foreign languages, they are being constantly reminded of the past, which may not be completely lost. The dolls follow the footsteps of the shadows and gradually forget that the room has four walls. Together they find an easy way to fly out of the room. The test ends and the two actors leave the changing room together with the musician.
