Voices in the Wind CANCELLED/AFLYST
09. December 2021
Voices in the Wind is a concert/performance by The Bridge of Winds with songs sung without electronic amplification and - except for a few - a capella. Traditional folk songs from the participants' many different countries are woven together into a flying carpet of voices. A Finnish yoik comes after a song from the Peruvian Andes, after which a Polish drinking song takes over, only to be followed by a Turkish chain dance, which again is interrupted by Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, to subsequently slip into a violin sonata by Bach. The group's "anthem" Vinden synger (The wind sings), which ends the concert, was written by Iben Nagel Rasmussen's deceased father, the poet Halfdan Rasmussen, and set to music by Frans Winther from Odin Teatret. The characteristic of the concert, however, is not only the multicultural aspect, but even more so, the energy and primordial power rooted in the over 30 years The Bridge of Winds has worked, trained their voices and sung together.
