As the most recognized woman Baul performer in the world, Parvathy Baul is a practitioner, performer, story teller, painter and teacher of the Baul tradition from Bengal, India. She has performed in over forty countries, in many prestigious concert halls and music festivals. In February 2019 , she was conferred Sangeet Natak Akademi Award , by Government of India for her contribution to the ancient Baul tradition. She is now creating a dedicated learning center for Baul tradition in Bengal.
In 2012 Parvathy Baul organised the first women's theatre festival in India, Tantidhatri, in connection with The Magdalena Project. The festival took place in Auroville and Pondicherry and was an opportunity for women from both traditional and contemporary backgrounds to meet. In 2016 Parvathy Baul organised the second Tantidhadri festival in Bangalore.
Parvathy Baul is, since 2016, participating in the Odin Teatret performance The Tree.
