Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium - Odin Teatret, in 2021 is going through one its most significant changes since its foundation in 1964 Oslo, Norway. Eugenio Barba, the theatre’s founder and leader is retiring from his position as leader of the 56-year-old institution and the 39-year-old Per Kap Bech Jensen will succeed him. Eugenio Barba will continue his work as a director for Odin Teatret.
Per K. B. Jensen was born in South Korea and grew up on the island of Mors in Denmark. He graduated from Aarhus University with a master's degree in dramaturgy in 2010. Besides his responsibility as leader of several theatre and cultural projects he was also director of the DSI Swinging Europe in Herning. Since 2014 he has been the administrative leader at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium-Odin Teatret.

The board of Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium - Odin Teatret has the honour of appointing Per K.B. Jensen as the right person to take on the theatre. He will continue to develop the theatre’s national and international connotation through artistic expression of the highest quality and the unique combination of theatre craft specialisation and broad community sense. Together with his experienced colleagues, Per K.B. Jensen wishes to create a new future for the theatre laboratory and Odin Teatret on the solid and experienced base of half a century of theatrical and anthropologic research and experiments in performing arts.
Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium - Odin Teatret should be recognised as a unique theatre. But not only a theatre. It is also laboratory of stage arts which has been developing new cultural and artistic forms by creating its own model for the actor’s physical presence on stage, questioning what a theatre performance can be and what role theatre should have in a globalised society. Furthermore, its ideas about theatre as an asset to revitalise human relations in the local environment has a big influence. All these accomplishments have given Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium - Odin Teatret international recognition.
