Theatre concert for another time

Look, look!"

An old woman and an old man, a couple of blind street musicians. 45 minutes of clownish music and poetry. The 20th century in two square meters. A tango and Thomas Eliot, a valzer and Zbigniew Herbert, Primo Levi and Samuel Beckett singing a corsican psalm. The songs reminiscent of old stories, the words recall forgotten myths: voices from all the regions of a lost time. Love and revolt, prayer and tears, hope anddisenchantment: the living echo of inactual dreams.
In front of the musicians the street seems to be deserted. No listener stops by, no coin falls in the box. Still, they offer their music to an invisible listener. Sweetly clinging to one another, they playfully challenge a deafening silence.

Look! Look!"

says the woman. The stand in front of them is empty, the music has been forgotten. Still, they perform with irreducible enthusiasm, reading their melodies from a secret inner score. In the absence of a path to follow, they play what they've been keeping by heart. But whom are they really singing for?

A child is coming and a child has gone"

says the lullaby.
At the end of the day, no coin is in the box. But maybe some spectators have passed by. Maybe, behind this concert for nobody, a ritual of rebirth is being celebrated. And behind the black glasses of the blind musicians, their eyes are still blue.

We've got only what we gave. We've got only our own songs. Let's go home now. We'll come back another time."
