Teresa Ruggeri began her carreer in Rome as a photographer and graduated in Contemporay Art History at Università La Sapienza. Consequently she developed her skills as a stiltwalker, acrobat and actress following several Italian and foreign theatre directors (Stilts, acrobatics: Circo Maximo, Rome; Carpetbag Brigade Physical Theater, Nemcatacoa Teatro, Myriam Abutori, Donald Kitt, Tage Larsen; Irene Croce; My!Laika; Thomas Taboada; Gonzalo Alarcon, clown; Keiin Yoshimura, Kamigata Mai Dance; Lombardo Arop, afro-contemporary dance; Sayoko Onishi, Butō; Laure Dupont; Deborah Hunt, masks; Caterina Poggesi; Julia Varley; Tage Larsen; Antonio Tagliarini; Mauro Tiberi; Mario Barzaghi; Marco Martinelli; Parvathi Baul)
In 2009 she joined the street company Amorua, and since then she was part of the theatrical and political collective "DeMeRode Theatre" in Rome. From 2008 she has been pupil and actress of Julia Varley and from 2013 to now she’s actress in residence at the NTL (Odin Teatret, DK). Furthermore, in 2008 she joined the women's theatre network The Magdalena Project. Selected for Scritture Project curated by Lucia Calamaro. Her performances include: Sogno o son desto?, Amorua Company, 2010; Trilogy of Tangier, directed by Caterina Poggesi, Zoomteatro 2009, Teatro Studio Scandicci (FI); Corale: investigation of fake flowers for bodies and voices, directed by Diana Magri, Ramblas, TeatroFestival Napoli 2012; D.A.K.I.N.I. directed by Isadora Pei; Ruins of time, directed by Julia Varley 2015 sice now. She has worked in many street performances. She works and teaches theatrical practice in Rome in partnership with the theatre space Fivizzano27.
